Rainy Day in Saltdal? Here’s Our Suggestion for the Perfect Day!

Even when the rain is tapping against the windows, there are plenty of great experiences to fill your day in Saltdal. Here’s our suggestion for a memorable rainy-day itinerary featuring local food, fascinating stories, art, culture, and relaxation.

08:00 AM – Breakfast with a View at Rognan Hotel

Start your day with a delicious breakfast at Rognan Hotel. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the fjord, and on a rainy day there is something especially comforting about sitting indoors with a warm cup of coffee while watching the weather unfold outside. Enjoy a relaxing start to the day before heading out for new experiences.

10:00 AM – Discover the Story Behind 67 North Distillery

Today’s first activity is just a short walk from the hotel. At 67 North Distillery, you can join a guided tour (advance booking required) and learn more about the craftsmanship behind whisky production. Gain fascinating insight into how local ingredients and the unique conditions of Northern Norway influence the distillery’s products.

12:30 PM – Lunch and Møsbrømlefse at Nordnes Kro & Camping

Next, head south to Nordnes Kro & Camping. In the traditional baking house, you’ll learn more about møsbrømlefse, a beloved regional specialty that has been part of the local food culture for generations. (Open every Wednesday during summer.) Afterwards, enjoy a freshly made møsbrømlefse for lunch in a cosy and welcoming setting.

2:00 PM – Art, Culture, and Nature at Storjord

Your next stop is the Nordland National Park Centre at Storjord. Here, you can book a guided tour of the exhibition Irreplaceable (“Uerstattelig”) and learn more about the region’s unique national parks. Afterwards, visit the Adde Zetterquist Art Gallery, which features both permanent exhibitions and exciting guest exhibitions throughout the year.

5:00 PM – Warm Up at Brennheit Sauna

After a day of exploring, it’s time to unwind. At Øyra, you’ll find Brennheit Sauna, beautifully located by the fjord. Relax in the warmth while watching the rain clouds drift across the landscape. If you’re feeling adventurous, you might even be tempted by a refreshing dip in the fjord before returning to the sauna.

7:00 PM – Dinner at Hongri Restaurant

End the day with a great meal at Hongri, located in the Slip1 Centre in Rognan. Sit back, relax, and reflect on the day’s experiences over a delicious dinner. Perhaps a perfectly cooked steak tastes even better after a day full of memorable impressions.

9:00 PM – Back to Rognan Hotel

Warm and full of new experiences, it’s time to return to the hotel for the evening. A rainy day in Saltdal doesn’t have to be dull—in fact, it can be filled with memorable experiences and lasting memories.
